BandoneOn House

Bandoneón is a finalist proposal for the Juanita Competition in Argentina, organised by Terraviva. Conceived as a house deeply connected to its landscape, the project responds to the surrounding river, vegetation, and terrain through a stepped architectural composition that gradually descends toward the water. The spatial organization is divided into three zones — Pampa, Río, and Yungas — each inspired by distinct Argentine landscapes and atmospheres, balancing openness, intimacy, and reflection throughout the home.

Materiality plays a central role in shaping the project’s identity. Exposed concrete, terracotta, wood, glass bricks, and Andean textile references create a dialogue between rawness and warmth, tradition and contemporary living. Inspired by the movement of the traditional Argentine bandoneón instrument, the roof structure expands and contracts rhythmically, creating moments of compression and openness that guide both light and movement through the house. The project explores architecture as an emotional and sensory experience — one rooted in landscape, culture, and atmosphere.
