Tankoa Shipyard Expansion
Developed in collaboration with IPE Progetti for Tankoa Yachts, this large-scale industrial and administrative complex in Genoa reimagines the contemporary shipyard through a balance of performance, economy, and architectural identity. Conceived for the newly acquired waterfront site previously owned by OTAM, the project includes multiple yacht construction halls, direct sea access infrastructure, and two new office buildings supporting the shipyard’s expanding operations. The architectural language was developed around a refined industrial aesthetic, combining corrugated silver metal cladding on the lower volumes with translucent polycarbonate envelopes above, shaped into a vertical zigzag geometry that gives the complex a dynamic and recognizable skyline presence. The main bacino opening directly toward the sea is designed to accommodate yachts up to 128 meters in length, while additional enclosed dry docks with operable doors connect production spaces to the wider site. The proposal emphasizes efficiency, modularity, and visual coherence at an urban scale, establishing a new identity for Tankoa’s future production facilities along the Genoese waterfront.
